There are some mornings

when a poem wakes me up

and begs to be born

There are some mornings

when I just don't care about

what needs to be done

There are some mornings

where the night before feels like

a bad idea

There are some mornings

when the alarm is so loud

it wakes up the sun

There are some mornings

when the cats will let us sleep

in, but those are few

when even the sun doesn't

want this to start yet

There are some mornings

when just getting up out of

bed is a triumph

There are some mornings

when you just can't open your

eyes, but you have to
